What kind(s) of reusable packaging can the Placard be used with?
Wide range

The Container Placard is well suited for a broad range of reusable packaging items. This includes plastic totes, cardboard boxes and metal containers. In order to meet your needs, we offer a wide range of Placard label holders.

Our types

Depending on the surface material, size and operational circumstances, we recommend different types of label holders. There are Placard products available that even resist harsh conditions like exposure to UV-light in the case of outdoor storage, use in freezers or frequent washing.

The Placard label holder always performs well, even on difficult materials like EPP, EPS and galvanised steel.

Which type of Placard should I choose?
The Placard label holder is available for a broad range of applications. Which type is best for you is determined by:
Container material
  • Plastics (HDPE, LDPE, PP, EPP, EPS, PC, PVC, ABS, etc.)
  • Glass
  • Aluminium
  • Steel (painted, galvanised, …)
  • Etc.
Surface

The Container Placard is developed to adhere to flat surfaces. If the surface of your container is ribbed or perforated, we recommend the Board Placard, also distributed by us.

Water resistance

The standard Placard can withstand normal amounts of water. However, even more resistant types, suited for intensive cleaning and washing processes, are available. Please contact us for more information.

Outdoor conditions

Even though normal outdoor conditions will not affect the standard Placard, w offer specific Placard products capable of withstanding outdoor weathering and even UV-radiation. Please contact us for more information.

  • 114×165 mm for DIN-A6 sized labels
  • 170×230 mm for DIN-A5 sized labels

  • 317×440 mm for DIN-A3 sized labels

Other sizes are available on request.

What temperatures can the Placard withstand?

Depending on the type of Placard, the product can withstand temperatures between -40°C and +120°C. When you first apply the Placard on the packaging container, the temperature should not be below 10°C for the next 24 hours.

What does it cost?
Pricing

Depending on the size, specification and order quantity, the premium Placard label holder is priced at about €1.00 per unit. Assuming the reusable packaging container makes a round-trip every ten working days over five years, this cost is to be spread over 100 trips. This means the Placard actually costs about € 0.01 per round-trip. A good deal for a well identified, neat and residue-free container, year after year! Fixed prices per quantity range result in a clear pricing structure. These bracket prices are based on size, product quality and quantity.

Standard Placard

The standard Placard products match the most common European label sizes (DIN). They are priced at the lowest end of the scale, given the unique character of this premium product. You can customize size, printed text and colour.

How is the Placard best applied?
5 easy steps to apply the Placard:
Step 1

In order to ensure that the Placard stays in place for a long time, apply the product on a clean and dry surface. Do not use any aggressive products to clean plastic surfaces, as this may alter the structure.

how to apply step 1
Step 2

Remove the liner from the Placard for about 5 cm. Place the adhesive side on the surface of the container while focusing on the final position of the Placard.

Step 3

Pull the remaining liner straight out from underneath the Placard.

Step 4

Remove any remaining air by pressing hard and swiping the yellow tool/applicator supplied. Do this across the whole surface, top-down and left-right.

Step 5

Allow the Placard to harden for 24 hours before cleaning/washing the container.

During step 1 to 5, the ambient temperature should not be lower than 10°C, This could affect the adhesive quality of the Placard label holder.

What makes the Placard label holder unique?
Top coating

Only the Placard’s unique top coating ensures a perfect combination of good adhesion and easy removal of shipping labels. For months or even years on end. Other manufacturers have attempted to solve this problem. They even tried to copy the Placard. Unfortunately, they failed to reach the same level of quality and durability.

An example

Some containers have ribbed/dotted surfaces where the labels can be affixed. Although this is a cheap solution, only 25-50% of the adhesive of the shipping label is used. The lack of control over the adhesion causes labels to fall off easily, even during transport. With the risk of losing valuable cargo.

Or they present the opposite problem: the label sticks well at the beginning but cannot be removed after a longer period without leaving a residue. This is mainly the case with slow-moving products.

Hold & Release

The “Hold & Release” trademark, printed on every product, guarantees the purchase of a genuine Placard label holder. This technology is engineered to succeed. It eliminates risks that come from choosing less trustworthy options.

When problems occur after some time, the savings that were made initially are far outweighed by the added costs from disturbances in the material flow, the cost of having to put badly labelled packaging, the premature swopping of label holders, etc.

This is the main reason why major clients such as Johnson Controls, BMW, Sanofi Aventis, KLM and Toyota selected our Placard label holder to support their logistic processes.

Do I need to use special adhesive labels on the Placard?

No. The Placard has been designed to receive most standard permanent adhesive labels. In particular cases, where containers are stored or need to be labelled in cold temperatures, we advise cold resistant labels. If in doubt, please contact us and we will provide you with expert advice and support.

What is the useful life of the Placard?

If applied correctly, the Placard label holder has the same useful life as the returnable transport item on which it is applied. The special top coating retains its unique characteristics year after year, whilst the Placard remains in its original position. It is therefore important to follow the application instructions correctly in order to optimise the durability of the Placard label holder. Aggressive products, however, need to be avoided for the cleaning of the Placard top coating.

What does a standard Placard look like and can it be customized?

The standard Container Placard features the words “Place label here” as well as brackets in black on a white background in landscape. Would you like to customize your label holder with your own logo, colour and/or text? That is possible, provided that this is arranged before the production process. You can even add bar codes or QR-codes. This has no effect on the quality of the product. The proprietary top coating is transparent and protects the print work. You can obtain samples with customized printing on request.

What are the minimum order quantities and delivery times?
Standard products
  • Minimum order quantity: 100 units
  • Delivery time within one week in any European country
Non-standard products
  • Minimum order quantity: 500 or 1.000 units (depending on the size)
  • Lead time is about three weeks
Can the Placard be used on ESD containers?

Although the Placard in an insulator, this label holder can still be used on ESD packaging as long as electronic components do not come into contact with it. So, we recommend to put the Placard on the sides of the ESD packaging. Rather than on the lids of the containers where, incidentally, the parts could be put on.

Can the Placard be used on the packaging of food products?

Some Placard products in our range can be used for indirect food contact. Please contact us for more details.

There are also Placard products available for containers with frozen food products.

Can the Placard ultimately be removed to recycle the packaging?

The Placard is made of a tear-resistant base film. It can be removed from the returnable packaging container, if needed. It might be better to remove the Placard first in the case of expensive packaging materials like polycarbonate. That way, you safeguard their high recycling value. Please contact us for more details.

Can the Placard be used on nestable/foldable containers?

In order to limit the cost of return transport of reusables over longer distances, you might prefer to use packaging types that can be folded or nested. Thanks to its limited thickness (less than 0.3mm), the Placard matches perfectly with these types of containers. The stacking factor is not influenced when the Placard is put on the side walls of the container. Unlike thicker label holding products like card holders.
